The presence, power, and gifts of the Holy Spirit that Jesus gave us after His ascension did not end when the apostles died.

To me it’s odd to hear that Christians would even consider that the Holy Spirit’s presence and power is no longer available for them today because how in the world can the church continue growing without God’s Presence in and through us???

I think Paul would have been really sad after his death if Timothy had stopped operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. After all, it was Paul who had commanded him to fan into flames those gifts that were placed in him with the laying on of hands.

I’m sure Paul would also have found it discouraging if Priscilla and Aquilla or even Apollos or anyone else they brought to Christ and salvation after his death would have suddenly halted in operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

It’s hard for me to understand why some believers think that the Holy Spirit was only meant to be the Comforter, Counselor, and Helper for the first apostles. 

We already know that isn’t true, anyway, because in the book of Acts, the apostles laid their hands on other Jews AND Gentiles, and these ordinary believers also got filled with the Holy Spirit, and they were given gifts that Paul talked about them using when He wrote letters to the churches.

So, why is everyone afraid of the Holy Spirit? Or, is it possible that it’s only deception from the enemy trying to keep people away from being more free in Christ?

The precious Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, was there at the beginning of Creation, hovering over the waters, and He is still with us today, faithfully showing the way to Jesus Christ. He will be there unto the end of the age because He is the Spirit of Jesus Christ, given to us, for us to be witnesses of Him to others. We are marked by His seal, and He is our deposit guaranteeing our inheritance of Heaven.

Bottom Line

Anyone can play religion, but religion does not transform anyone’s life.  A lot of times religion puts people in boxes and condemns them for trying to discover who Christ really made them to be as they try to get out of the box. 

“Wait,” Jesus Christ instructed. “And, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be My witnesses….” (Acts 1:8)
