Prayers can change us.
One winter evening in 2010 when I was so concerned about my own life and the lack of direction and resources I had in it, I was on the phone with a friend. I was actually waiting outside of the apartment at CFNI of another friend during the winter. She had gone to visit one of her friends that evening, and I had done something else (probably with church), and when I got back, since I was staying at her place, I was waiting outside for her to get home…well into late hours, as I learned later she had fallen asleep! lol!
Fortunately, though, for me, I didn’t face that night watch alone for many hours. The friend on the phone with me listened and prayed with me in what I thought was my dire state. Sitting in the cold, freezing car, I felt so shaken and afraid of what would happen next with my life. What would happen to me?
The friend on the other end and I began praying fervently. Well, while praying out loud, suddenly, I felt impressed to stop, as God gave me a vision and prophetic word for myself which came in the form of a living/loving rebuke.
“What about you, Christine? You have everything you need for life and Godliness, and you are so blessed. But…what about them?”
I felt God’s heart for the masses of people who didn’t have home or relationships with Him. And, I just began bawling on the phone with my friend. My heart was so burdened for the masses of people I saw around me. I knew God was telling me that He was doing something in my life. He wanted me to know His heart more intimately. He wanted me to know how deeply He’d take care of me, but that He wanted to know where I stood. Where was my heart? Would I be willing to forget myself, and be used of Him for others?
As my friends and family know, it’s been a process of many letting goes for the Father to use me these days as He has. It’s incredible to me, really.
Bringing this Home
I was reading a while back about a lady named Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. When she turned 12, she felt God calling her to become a missionary. I learned that she taught high school for a while, and she became principal of the school. Then, one day God gave her a vision. She saw the poor and sick all around her. God called her to go and serve in the slums of Calcutta. She helped others until she had given away her earthly possessions. God used her to rescue homeless children, and God used her to start many orphanages and schools. Today we all know her as Mother Teresa.
I gotta admit, I don’t know Mother Teresa’s conversion story, or anything about her personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but I get the fact that she felt a call to give her life to serve others, and to give her life away in that pursuit.
The bottom line is that we are BLESSED beyond we can ever dream when we have Jesus Christ as our Savior. No matter what we all are facing in this nation or in life, when we know the Savior, we have LIFE inside us, and we win.
But, there are many who don’t know Him. And, who don’t have that hope. What about them? Who will GO for them?
God has heard their calling in the night. God wants them to know He is Father, and He loves them, too, and He wants to bless them, as well. He wants them to know His Son Jesus and be His.
It’s amazing how mysteriously God works. But, sometimes God will cause US to suffer and learn, so that we can be the ones to champion the next set of runners on the track. After all, isn’t that what Jesus did for us? And, He now lives inside of us.
Yes, God calls us his forerunners. And, He equips us for His amazing task at hand: To build His Kingdom. All He wants are faithful ones willing to give their lives away that others may be rescued and saved, as well.
What has the Lord been placing on your heart during prayer? Is there a call on your life that the Lord wants to cultivate in and through you? How is God asking you to SHINE His Love to the world?
Blessings,
Christine ❤
